ManyRequests vs Copilot in brief, and the Assembly rename
ManyRequests is the better fit for agencies that deliver a steady stream of client requests on subscription. Copilot is the better fit for professional service firms that want a flexible portal and may start with only a handful of clients.
The name needs clearing up. The client portal product known as Copilot is now called Assembly. The company announced the change on 29 September 2025, saying the Copilot name had become hard to find next to Microsoft and GitHub products. The copilot.app address now redirects to assembly.com. It is not related to Microsoft Copilot. The rest of this page uses Assembly.

One thing each does that the other does not
ManyRequests: request management built for subscriptions is native. That means per-service limits on active requests, credit and hour balances with rollover, queue view and design and video proofing. ManyRequests' own comparison page also says Assembly has no native time tracking. That is a competitor's claim, although Assembly's pricing page does not list time tracking either.
Assembly: an app builder. You describe a portal app and the builder creates it, using build credits. Paid plans include 200 credits a month and five apps. Extra credits cost $0.60 each and extra apps $5 a month each. Assembly also offers a free plan and a HIPAA business associate agreement on Advanced, neither of which ManyRequests lists.
Which businesses suit ManyRequests and which suit Assembly
- Choose ManyRequests if you are a design, video or marketing agency with many clients each sending frequent requests. Unlimited clients on a $59 plan matters when Assembly Starter stops at 50 contacts. See the ManyRequests features list.
- Choose Assembly if you are an accounting, consulting or legal practice, need contracts, forms and custom apps more than a request queue, or want to start free with up to five clients.
- Check the contact math. Assembly counts every client record that can sign in as an active contact. An agency with 60 client users needs Professional, not Starter.
If you are still defining requirements, the portal requirements checklist helps, and ManyRequests alternatives lists more options.
What switching between them involves
The two products are structured differently, so little transfers directly. ManyRequests organizes work as services and requests. Assembly organizes it as apps attached to a CRM. Expect to export your client list, recreate services or apps, and rebuild forms.
Billing needs the most care. ManyRequests subscriptions run in your own Stripe account, and the vendor's pricing FAQ says it offers free migration help to import clients and active subscriptions, though its plan table ticks migration help for Pro only. This site could not confirm from Assembly's public pages how subscriptions billed through Assembly can be moved out. Ask both vendors before you set a date, and follow a staged migration plan so clients are never left without a working portal.
